Explore FANFAR scheduled production

We will focus on the indices that track the scheduled production jobs (data items) and records the corresponding data results.

The second element retrieved is the title of the data item. You can note the different status between `[]`:

  • [DI Queue] means the data item is currently queued for processing. It should be submitted to the processing center for processing soon.
  • [DI In] means the data item is currently processing in the processing center. A new time series is expected soon.
  • [DI Out] means the data item has been successfully processed. A new time series should be linked as a result (see section Query and Download results)
  • [DI Error] means the data item has encountered an error during processing. The processing logs should be linked for consultation (see page Debugging errors)

Find the production related results

Using the same query as before and using another metadata, we will be able to find the link to the results. There are basically 2 ways of getting the results:

  • A search link to a contextualization service that returns the results files as items with service offering (e.g. geolocation, WMS, time series)
  • An enclosure link to a directory where all the result files can be found for download

Water Levels (fanfar-00001)

The 2 first entries in the results are virtual dataset ([Station]). They do not have an actual file linked because they deliver the time series resource available only in the geobrowser.

The third entry is an actually file dataset and have a direct link to the CSV file with the water levels computed.

Forecasts (fanfar-00002)

Using the API-link from the section Hydrological Forecasts (item 11) at Data Quick Reference as an example we can query the catalogue for the specified model configuration using the unique identifier (uid) and a date (forecast issue date).
This example uses curl to access the catalogue, and xmllint to format the xml text that is returned to easier use tools such as grep and cut on the formatted xml text to extract http address to model results.

With the following command we query that catalogue for results for the model configuration "WestAfrica-HYPE 1.2 + HydroGFD 3.2 + ECOPER + INSITU-AR" and the forecast issue date 2021-06-03. The results are saved as a file named atom.results.txt

To download a certain file we use the base http address to the model result files and we add a file name for a model result file. With the curl flag -O we let curl write the result to a file named as the remote file.

In the current directory there are now two model results files available.
